The Journey to 130

Here is video taken at the finish line at the ZOOMA race last month in Austin, TX. This was my first official 5K that I ran without stopping. You will see me on the far right coming  towards the line. Such an awesome moment especially since running has never been my thing…until now.

3 runs in 4 months & still going strong!!! Happy for the lifestyle change since its helping me de-stress after long days at work and giving me the energy and health I need to live life! Next run is a 6.2mile run on April 28th!!! Woot woot!!!

I blame the rodeo…

Today was weigh in day and I GAINED 4 POUNDS!!! Uggghhhh!! I had finally reached my goal of losing 20lbs and here I go again, gaining 4lbs. NOT COOL!! I actually had a very active weekend but it wasn’t enough to counteract the bad stuff I had already done. Here is a detailed account of this past weekend and where I think those 4lbs came from:

Friday, 3/2/12

I went to see the man of my dreams, John Legend. Gosh how I love him and unfortunately I also love trying crazy food at least once. It wasn’t a good idea to go to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo since they have all sorts of crazy food. They have FRIED everything!!! Oreos, snickers, cheese cake, cookie dough, the list goes on and on.

I was hungry and I ended up having a fried Snickers bar…it was delicious BUT lots of fat.

After the rodeo we ended up going to Del Sol Taqueria and I had two quesadillas…yeah even I could feel the pounds being gained at that moment.

Saturday, 3/3/12

Woke up late because I went to sleep late, bad idea, and well missed my breakfast. Did my bike ride and afterwards because I was so darn hungry I loaded up on carbs! again BAD IDEA!!

This is the first plate and well got more pizza and later on some noodles. After my race I was so tired I rested the rest of the day and didn’t have a good dinner.

Sunday, 3/4/12

The last bad day of my weekend. I woke up to the delicious breakfast my mom cooked which was arepas, eggs and cheese. yeah starch!! then we went for a walk and I ended up not eating until really late which then totally messed up my stomach. Oh and somewhere in there add a really big serving of Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt, uuggghhhh, a weekend filled with bad ideas, decisions and actions. 

All of that brings me to today and 4lbs later. I am not happy because I know that I made all of those decisions and acted on them BUT will only look at it as a setback that I am willing to learn from and move past. I plan on reaching my goal so its time to make the right decisions. 

Ohh and I can’t go around blaming the rodeo for my fried snickers…next time if I want to try a crazy food like that I will make sure to do it early in the day and split it with someone. (I won’t deprive myself of something but just be smarter about it.)

a mid-foot stride really is better to run! I use to run on my heels or toes and that really strains your muscles. Now I can run for longer! :D
